The OPCW and the Universiti Technologi Malaysia organised the fourth Natural Products Chemistry Training and Development Programme at the Institute of Bio-product Development, Universiti Technologi Malaysia (UTM), from 27 September to 13 October 2015. The objective of the training programme was to enhance experience and practical knowledge of chemical research in natural products development and develop national capacities in Member States by offering training to personnel from industry, academic institutions and government laboratories.
The training programme structure was designed to further expose qualified natural products chemists and scientists from Member States to advance chemical research in natural products with particular emphasis on value addition through the development of marketable products. The course provided sound knowledge in natural product extraction, separation, purification and product development practices. Participation from industry, academic institutions, and government laboratories from 16 States Parties* was observed at the programme.
The chief guest at the closing ceremony was, Dato’Tan Seng Sung, Chairman of the National Authority for CWC who awarded the certificates and chaired the evaluation session.
