Delivering advanced level training to selected graduates from the Advanced Training Programme.
The “train the trainers” approach gives participants necessary knowledge of field procedures as instructors to increase the sustainability of OPCW’s capacity-building efforts.
The Programme also provides an overview of the kinds of assistance the OPCW can provide in the event of the use or threat of use of chemical weapons, under Article X Paragraph 8 of the Convention.
Course Content
- The use of personal protective equipment during a chemical emergency, rescue and decontamination operations in contaminated areas.
- The appropriate responses and countermeasures in the event of incidents involving chemical warfare agents or toxic chemicals.
Objective
The focus of the training is not upon teaching participants new skills but teaching participants how to teach their existing skills in their home countries.
This will help participating States Parties by enhancing the abilities and skills their instructors in offering training in providing protection against chemical weapons and other toxic chemicals, as well as managing chemical incidents.
