The OPCW and the Government of Poland, with the support of the Polish Central School of the State Fire Service, jointly organized the Third Course on Sampling and Analysis in a Highly Contaminated Environment, which took place in the city of Czestochowa from 4 to 8 May 2015. Sixteen participants from 16 States Parties* attended.
The course, conducted pursuant to Article X of the Chemical Weapons Convention, provided hands-on training in the use of individual protective equipment, including the use of self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) in different emergency situations. Practical training sessions ensured that participants were familiar with the chemical, biomedical and environmental sampling techniques commonly employed in situations where chemical and/or biological warfare agents have been allegedly used.
The course also fostered the exchange of information and experiences amongst the participants, achieving an excellent team spirit that significantly enhanced the impact of the training sessions.
