OPCW Deputy Director-General, Ambassador Hamid Ali Rao, visited Poland on 17-19 April 2016 to participate in the Global Summit on Chemical Safety and Security.
Ambassador Rao addressed the opening plenary and emphasised that emerging challenges would require new investments in chemical security infrastructure. He highlighted the unique global platform provided by the OPCW in promoting cooperation in this area, including through expanded partnerships with industry.
Encouraging other Summit participants, Ambassador Rao underscored that “Working together, we can make meaningful and effective investments in sustainable security practices.”
The three-day summit, held in Kielce, was organised by the International Centre for Chemical Safety and Security. Participants included representatives from government agencies, industry, international organisations and civil society.
During his visit, the Deputy Director-General met with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mrs Joanna Wronecka, and Under Secretary for the Ministry of Economic Development, Mr Tadeusz Kościński. He also visited the Institute for Industrial Organic Chemistry.
