The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic, H.E. Mr Lubomír Zaorálek, visited the OPCW on 29 June 2015 and met the Director-General, Ambassador Ahmet Üzümcü.
The Director-General and the Minister discussed a broad range of issues relating to the implementation of the Chemical Weapons Convention, including the mission to eliminate Syrian chemical weapons and the future of the Organisation. The Minister and Director-General also discussed ways to strengthen cooperation between the Government of the Czech Republic and the OPCW, particularly in capacity building and training. Ambassador Üzümcü conveyed his appreciation to the Government of the Czech Republic for its contributions to the mission to destroy Syria’s chemical weapons, as well as to OPCW training activities.
Minister Zaorálek congratulated the OPCW for its work to eliminate Syria’s chemical weapons, and underscored the Czech Republic’s steadfast commitment to the implementation of the Chemical Weapons Convention and support for the work of the OPCW.
