The OPCW and the National Committee for the Prohibition of Weapons of Qatar organised a regional exercise in Assistance and Protection for Asian States Parties from 8 to 10 December 2014. The exercise was held at the Qatari military training centre with 26 participants from 18 States Parties* taking part.
The training was the third and closing stage of two regional Assistance and Protection Pilot Projects in Asia that comprised two basic courses, held in India and the Republic of Korea, and two advanced courses held in China and Pakistan.
The main aim of this exercise was to test the knowledge and skills acquired by the participants in the first two stages, including the proper use of individual and protective equipment, reconnaissance, detection, sampling and analysis, and rescue and decontamination techniques, as well as emergency planning undertaken during the training cycles.
