The Regional Basic Course on Assistance and Protection against Chemical Weapons was held in New Delhi from 25 to 29 August 2014. The course was offered by the Indian Government under Article X of the Chemical Weapons Convention and aims to build capacity in assistance and protection against chemical weapons.
The course is the first in what will be a series of three such courses in the SAARC region (South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation), with priority given to States Parties in the region, including Afghanistan. This first course was attended by 16 participants from 12 States Parties.*
