Minister of Foreign Affairs of Croatia Meets OPCW Director-General

On 9 April 2008 the Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration of the Republic of Croatia, H.E. Mr Gordan Jandroković, met the OPCW Director-General, Ambassador Rogelio Pfirter.

Foreign Minister Jandroković, reaffirmed Croatia’s continuing and wholehearted support for the aims of the Chemical Weapons Convention and the mission of the OPCW during his meeting with Director-General Pfirter.

During the meeting, Director-General Pfirter provided Foreign Minister Jandroković with an overview of the Chemical Weapons Convention highlighting the importance of the Convention in the current strategic context and they also discussed issues pertaining to the on-going Second Review Conference. Director-General Pfirter also commended the Government of Croatia for its exemplary cooperation and steadfast support for the Convention’s implementation and for the work of the OPCW.

Foreign Minister Jandroković also conferred upon Director-General Pfirter the Duke Branimir’s Order, one of Croatia’s highest awards. The Duke Branimir’s Order has been bestowed on Ambassador Pfirter on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the Convention and “in recognition of Ambassador Pfirter’s personal – and the Organization’s – efforts to pursue the noble goals of the Convention and contribute to global peace and security, and to the strengthening of international cooperation.”
