The Secretary of State of Foreign Affairs of Poland, Mr Eugeneniusz Wyzner, and his entourage, visited the Secretariat on 18 August 1997 and held talks with the Director-General, Mr José M. Bustani. Mr Wyzner, who was briefed on the implementation of the Chemical Weapons Convention, expressed the firm support of Poland for the OPCW.
Besides bilateral matters, issues related to the universality of the Convention and, in this context, the ratification by some significant signatory States, including the Russian Federation, was also discussed. The Director-General briefed Mr Wyzner on the efforts being made in this regard. Mr Wyzner extended an invitation to the Director-General to visit Poland in the future.
