Giving trainers an opportunity to practice their previously acquired knowledge, deepen their abilities, and prepare them to instruct others.
Laboratory Skills Training
The programme is delivered as a training course aimed at providing a sound working knowledge of the principles, procedures, and applications of different analytical methods for the analysis of chemicals related to the Chemical Weapons Convention.
The programme focuses upon developing and enhancing the existing laboratory skills of participants. This is done by introducing different analytical methods, practicing sampling procedures in contaminated areas and mobile laboratories, practicing decontamination procedures, and providing training in the interpretation of results.
Sampling and Analysis Training
This training develops and strengthens participants skills in sampling and analysis in highly contaminated areas.
Participants learn about the theory and practice of sampling and analysis of chemical and biological substances – activities that are crucial for the acquisition and preservation of evidence during events involving chemical warfare agents and/or toxic industrial chemicals.
Course Content
Provide extensive theoretical and practical field training in the use of individual protective equipment, including the use of self contained breathing apparatus (SCBA).
Familiarise participants with chemical, biomedical and environmental sampling techniques.
Live Agent Training
This training gives participants an opportunity to practice toxic agent reconnaissance, detection, decontamination, and sampling techniques in contaminated environments under controlled conditions.
Medical Training
The objective of Medical Training is to provide participants with the necessary knowledge and skills to administer medical treatment to victims of chemical incidents, both in the field and at a medical treatment centre.
The current training cycle focuses on pre-hospital treatment of chemical casualties.
This training is made up of theoretical and practical modules, including field exercises, and aims at enhancing participant skill levels and over-all performance, shortening rescue and first aid treatment procedure times, and reducing error rates.
Training for First Responders
This course enhances police and/or law enforcement first-responders capacity to react safely and securely to chemical incidents.
The course offers an introduction to basic toxicology, the types and uses of individual protective equipment, reconnaissance, detection, decontamination, and forensics, as well as other relevant topics. It also covers elements related to risk assessment, prevention, and response to chemical emergencies.
